Vaulting is so Beautiful. Top Three females.

Stunning Vaulting

I love vaulting. It is such a beautiful sport. One of the hardest sports I think a human can do. I also think it is one of the kindest equestrian disciplines for the horse. FINALLY one in which the human is working harder than the horse. Its about time.

What a Weaving Horse Looks Like-What can you do?

This is an example of a horse that is weaving. This horse also paws at the air in frustration as well as banging the side walls with his hooves sometimes too. Horses naturally move for many hours a day eating as they walk. To stand idle in a stall can be extremely frustrating to a lot of horses. Especially high strung breeds.

This can be helped by both getting the horse into a larger paddock situation and by creating some type of social situation for the horse that involves exercise. This does not mean with a rider. The feeling of cabin fever the horse is experiencing inside can be somewhat alleviated by massage as well. The way most of us have experienced horses is a very unnatural environment for them. All you really have to do to know what the horse feels like is to imagine yourself in that environment. While also taking into consideration their size to space ratio. A 12x12 stall is a bit like us living in a porta-potty. Please note though that for some horses that have always lived in very small spaces being put in a very large space can be initially overwhelming and anxiety producing. The change may need to happen gradually depending on the individual temperament of the horse. The name of the game with horses or really anything is to be present, observe, and see what the horse or situation is telling you. Adjust according to what is happening that day, hour, or moment.

The truth about Hooves-Empower yourself and know what is possible!

So often I hear that there is no ability to change the shape of a horse's hoof by way of trimming or shoeing.

I ve asked certain farriers their methodology...what they are going for...what they believe is possible by shoeing or trimming. The responses are either I don't know, or I just do what the client asks for, or I trim the hoof the way it grows.

When I tell people it IS possible to affect and change the hoof shape, size, and angles I feel as if I'm telling people the world is Round for the first time after the general population has fully accepted the notion that the Earth is flat(I hope you know, what I'm referencing here).

I guess I should say why it is important to change and monitor the way the hooves are on a horse. It is important because if you have a part of the hoof that is Blocking the movement of the horse, the weakest part that is involved in that movement will start to break down( i.e. Joint, ligaments, tendons, etc.). As horse people all know there are endless leg problems with horses that are actively being worked and in some that aren't as well. This is no mystery. It just takes some deductive reasoning, observation, and an openness to looking at the horse as a whole; an ever changing being in motion.

I am going to compile as many before and afters of the cases I have collaborated with my farrier Dawn Jenkins on. Even she said you just trim the hoof how it grows. I disagreed. I have a background in dentistry and one of the specialty offices I worked in was orthodontics. This is all about moving bone with pressures. You move teeth over by creating relief(space) on one side and putting pressure on the other. Osteoclasts break down the bone and Osteoblasts build bone on the newly created space.

Physiology works with it's environment moving and changing as it has to because of environmental pressures.

The reason we have to do this through essentially equine podiatry is because they don't live natural lives of running at top speeds breaking away the feet naturally. We keep horses in extremely unnatural environments so we have to recreate optimum health to the best of our abilities.

I'm not a person that thinks that all horses should just be wild again. It's not realistic. There are downfalls to that too. Like dying on the range. Our domesticated horses are far too thoroughly bred to handle the conditions. Besides, the blm and nps would round them up for horse meat anywho.

I have been loving and studying horses for 28 years. I have been riding and teaching professionally for the last 15 years. One thing I see over and over is that the client, the horsey mommy(or daddy) usually has a gut feeling about what is happening with their horse or how their horse should be treated and it is canceled out by the supposed professional; trainer, farrier, vet, etc. so the intuition of the person who knows the horse best is disempowered. The one person that has the horse's best interest in mind and is not jaded by income in relation to that horse is shut up. I would like to empower the horse advocates that speak up for horses personal rights; that speak up for new and innovative ways of doing things.

Kauai, Hawaii is heaven on Earth for Horses

Kauai, Hawaii
If there ever was a way a horse should live. The perfect life! Then, this is it! I traveled through the beautiful and lush Hanalei area of the extraordinary Garden Isle of Kauai today; chasing the sun, searching for the end of the road. Horses live the best life of freedom in this spectacular field nestled between two mountains made of deeply healing black lava rock. I've found heaven and I wanna stay.

So after being here for 2.5 months healing from a life altering car accident in the beginning of the year. I see life through new eyes. I love Kauai and its amazing and prolific abundance, but I desire to go back to the mainland, to Los Angeles, to Malibu, to share horses with people that crave horses, crave nature, want to be of service, of service to an animal that relies on our whim. I hope to meet lots of people in Los Angeles that want to get back to nature; that want to make a difference in a horse's life. I am going back to LA next week to re establish myself and my business. www.MalibuHorsesInc.com

Summer sore healed naturally-after pic

Here you can see horse did not have to live with a divot removed from her lip. The combination of non toxic items I described in my last blog post did the trick in healing this little POA mare's lip.

Healing summer sores naturally

It is possible to heal a summer sore without cutting part of the lip out! I think that it is a bit aggressive in most cases to excise the infected portion of the lip repeatedly.Natural modalities can be used to heal these surprisingly quickly.

These pics are my experience of using a remedy I made at home for approx a week and a half--

1st two days

Organic garlic crushed up
Mixed with vitamin E
Aztec clay

Daily treatment once first layer of infection gone
Aztec clay mixed with vinegar

Daily Follow up after above treatment

Vitamin e with clay dusted on top to soak all moisture up

Look for after pic**

Welcome to my new Blog about horses, my experience of being a lifelong rider, horse lover, and horse listener!

Starting this blog feels really exciting to me for a number of reasons.

One of which is that it helps me to have a specific venue to share my abilities to communicate with and help horses in all of the ways I know possible. By doing this more openly I hope to inspire people to own a horse of their own, be a human advocate for a horse, or be more in tune with the horse(s) they currently have.

I have had 27 amazing years of communication with horses.

Starting at 9 years old...making my way by bus to a public riding stable 2 counties and 5 walking miles away. Nothing could stop me from being with these majestic creatures I dreamed about daily.

I have ridden in most disciplines- barrel racing, competitive trail, fox hunting, dressage, and most recently at 36 I am in love with VAULTING.

I have spent the last 6 years transforming people and horses in Malibu- www.malibuhorsesinc.com

Please feel free to share stories or ask any horse related questions on this Blog.
